Event description:

2016 World Fellow Gernot Laganda will discuss “Buzzwords and Fuzzwords in International Development.”

Sustainable development, capacity building, mainstreaming, climate change mitigation, adaptation, resilience - these are some buzzwords that are used a lot in current conversations about international development. Yet, different people and audiences have widely different notions on what they mean. We want to take a look behind some of these words and explain them a bit better. Laganda will also share some experiences on how we can bring discussions about topics such as human and economic development back from a technocratic level into a space where we talk clearly about people, communities and ecosystems.
