“The Hissène Habré Case - Victims Bring a Dictator to Justice”

For 17 years, lawyer Reed Brody has been the strategist behind the victims’ campaign to bring to justice the former dictator of Chad, Hissène Habré, recently sentenced by a court in Senegal to life imprisonment for crimes against humanity. Brody also worked on the cases of Augusto Pinochet of Chile and Jean-Claude “Baby Doc” Duvalier of Haiti. He is author of four Human Rights Watch reports on the U.S. treatment of prisoners in the “war on terror” and the book “Faut-il Juger George Bush?” He has taught courses on accountability for international crimes at Columbia Law School and the American University Washington College of Law.
