Event description:

Professor Herzog has published widely on the themes of gender, sexuality, trauma, and fascism. Her newest research, however, takes her in two very different directions. One project explores the place of psychiatry in postwar Germany. She is particularly interested in the roles West German and American psychiatrists played in efforts to work through the trauma of the Holocaust. Here, the medical meets the legal, as psychiatrists were also involved in efforts to negotiate reparations payments to Holocaust survivors. Her other current project, titled The Death of God in the Twentieth Century, explores postwar West German theologies of liberation
