Speakers
Nina Sylvanus, Northeastern University
Nina Sylvanus is a political and economic anthropologist whose work focuses on capital and labor, value and aesthetics, infrastructure and technology, and, more broadly, on critical transformations within the neoliberal global economy. She is the author of Patterns in Circulation: Cloth, Gender and Materiality in West Africa (University of Chicago Press, 2016) and is currently working on a new book, Harboring the Future: The Togo Techno-Port, Governance, and Global Economics in West Africa. This project examines the emergence of new ports, evolving logistical infrastructures, and the maritime anthropology of West Africa.
