Sharad Chari is Professor of Geography and co-Director of Critical Theory at UC Berkeley. His recent and forthcoming publications include Gramsci at Sea (2023), Apartheid Remains (2024) and Beverley Ditsie's Fearless Speech: A Dialogue on the Pitfalls of Queer Struggle (Fall 2026), and, with Carolien Stolte, the co-edited Cambridge History of Colonialism and Decolonization, Vol 5: The Colonial Present and the Planetary Demand. He is currently working on two projects: on the idea of the 'Blue Economy' in the African Indian Ocean, and on the undersea art of Ellen Gallagher.
