Liza Kozharinova
Liza Kozharinova is a Henry Fellow at Yale. She previously studied at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow, where her research focused on discourse analysis of Russian state communication. Liza holds a B.Sc. from the London School of Economics and Political Science, where her thesis explored probabilistic models of political discourse articulation.
When Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, Liza authored an open letter against the war on behalf of Russia’s academic community. Signed by more than 15,000 students, professors, and researchers across hundreds of universities, it became one of the largest collective antiwar statements from within Russia. Following her departure from the country, she continued her work in exile, advocating for pro-democracy and antiwar Russians in the United Kingdom within the Russian Democratic Society, which established the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Russia and Democracy at the UK Parliament — the first body to represent the Russian opposition within a Western legislature.
Aside from this work, Liza is passionate about technology and its implications for politics, including AI, tech for campaigning, and blockchain-based elections.
