Call for Papers

The application for the 2026 Yale Central Asia Workshop (CAW) is now open. The 2026 CAW will be held in Almaty, Kazakhstan at KIMEP University on May 25-26, 2026. Travel, accommodation, and meals will be provided to all selected candidates for the duration of the Workshop in Central Asia.

 

The Central Asia Workshop is a two-day convening in Almaty, Kazakhstan which brings together advanced graduate students and junior scholars working on topics of current interest in Central Asian Studies. The CAW provides participants the opportunity to engage in scholarly dialogue with peers from around the region and globe, as well as faculty from the humanities and social sciences. 

 

Eligibility 

CAW participation is open to advanced graduate students and junior scholars in the humanities and social sciences. Students in terminal master’s programs are not eligible to apply. Applicants located in Central Asia are strongly encouraged to apply.
