REEESNe | Zingaresca Ensemble Concert

Romani and Jewish Music from Eastern Europe and Russia

Luce Hall Auditorium

34 Hillhouse Ave., New Haven, CT

Free and open to the public (non-Yale attendees should arrive 15 minutes early)

Passionate, virtuosic, and refined: ZINGARESCA is a rare crossover ensemble devoted to the legendary seven-string guitar — a distinctly Eastern European instrument whose voice has resonated for more than two centuries in salons, theaters, and candle-lit ballrooms.
The music of Zingaresca unites the discipline of classical training with the smoldering intensity of Romani and Jewish musical traditions.
The ensemble brings together commanding artists:
• Vadim Kolpakov — a renowned Romani guitarist who comes from a long line of exceptional musicians, and whose unmatched virtuosity dazzled audiences around the globe.
• Oleg Timofeyev — visionary scholar-performer and leading force in the revival of the historic seven-string guitar tradition.
• Anton Belov — distinguished baritone whose voice has graced major opera houses and symphony stages.
• Alina Nazarevich–a prominent singer/dancer from Kyiv, Ukraine, and the founder of the Roma ensemble.
This upcoming program is bound to create an intimate, electrifying, and unforgettable musical experience!

Zingaresca's April 12-14 residency at Yale is organized in conjunction with the April 12th Symposium (also free and open to the public) of the Yale-based Romani Studies Group
