**********

The European Studies Council (ESC) of the MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University invites applications to the 7th annual Yale European and Eurasian Studies Graduate Student Conference.

On May 06-07, 2026, a hybrid-format conference is scheduled to take place at Yale University. This Conference will bring together graduate students, early-career scholars, and established academics from across disciplines to discuss the most pressing challenges facing Europe, Russia, and Eurasia today. The deadline for applications is January 16, 2026. To propose an individual paper, please submit an online application form.

Political Science, History, Sociology, Anthropology, Security, Film and Media Studies, Economics, Literature, Law, Cultural Studies, and Public Health are all examples of acceptable fields for paper topics. Only open to applications from graduate students and early career scholars from around the world enrolled at universities/colleges.

In the backdrop of Russia’s war against Ukraine, we are especially receptive to initiatives that further the decentralization and decolonization of the study of the former “communist bloc” of the Soviet Union, Central and Eastern Europe, and Eurasia at large. The results of the selection will be communicated by January 16, 2026.

For more information, please visit the online application form. Please circulate widely!

Applications DUE: January 12, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET
