The European Studies Council (ESC) of the MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University invites applications to the 7th annual Yale European and Eurasian Studies Graduate Student Conference.

On May 06-07, 2026, a hybrid-format conference is scheduled to take place at Yale University. This international conference seeks to showcase current research and foster exchange among students, postdocs, and faculty working across diverse disciplines in European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies. The deadline for applications is January 30, 2026. To propose an individual paper, please submit an online application form.

We invite proposals for individual papers from graduate students and early-career scholars from around the world enrolled at universities/colleges. Students from any academic field are welcome to apply. We welcome submissions of high-quality research related to Europe, Russia, and Eurasia in disciplines including, but not limited to: Political Science, History, Sociology, Anthropology, Security, Film and Media Studies, Economics, Literature, Law, Cultural Studies, and Public Health.

In the backdrop of Russia’s war against Ukraine, we are especially receptive to initiatives that further the decentralization and decolonization of the study of the former “communist bloc” of the Soviet Union, Central and Eastern Europe, and Eurasia at large. The results of the selection will be communicated by February 06, 2026.

For more information, please visit the online application form. Please circulate widely!
