Maria Kaliambou Participates in Centennial Celebration of the Faculty of Philosophy at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

On March 20, 2026, Maria Kaliambou, an alumna of the Department of History and Archaeology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, participated in the centennial celebration of the Faculty of Philosophy. She was invited to join a roundtable discussion with fellow alumni, where participants reflected on their undergraduate experiences, addressed current challenges, and explored opportunities for future collaboration. Founded in 1926, the Faculty of Philosophy was the first faculty established at the university. The symposium featured presentations from various departments, as well as roundtables with students, alumni, and deans.
In her remarks, Kaliambou emphasized that the essence of the Faculty lies in its people—faculty and students—as well as in its intellectual and physical spaces, including libraries, classrooms, museums, and communal areas. She also emphasized the transformative impact of the Erasmus program, a student exchange program among students in European universities, on her academic journey. During her exchange from Thessaloniki to Munich, Kaliambou discovered her passion for folklore and European Ethnology, which she pursued further during her doctoral studies. In 2011, she was honored as the Erasmus Student Ambassador of Greece by the European Commission. Her reflections underscored the enduring value of international exchange in shaping academic trajectories and fostering meaningful connections across institutions.
