Join us for a public talk by Francisco Duarte Lopes, Ambassador of Portugal to the United States. Registration is required for this event.

Following the talk, Professor K. David Jackson will be honored by the Ambassador in a decoration ceremony.

The program will be immediately followed by a reception for all guests.

Francisco Duarte Lopes has been serving as Portugal’s Ambassador to the US since 2022. A career foreign service officer, he served as the Permanent Representative of Portugal to the UN, at Portugal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lisbon, as Director-General for Foreign Policy, European Affairs, and the Portuguese Representative to the EU.

Ambassador Duarte Lopes holds a law degree from the Faculty of Law of Lisbon. He began his professional service as an attaché in the Foreign Ministry’s Consular Section in 1989, before being posted to Pakistan from 1993 to 1995.
