Shaping A Nation: Plasticity Across 20th Century Politics of Peru - A Senior Showcase by Ivana Ñique

This senior project in Latin American Studies by Ivana Ñique explores how Peru's national identity was molded over the 20th century, focusing on Juan Velasco Alvarado's cultural policies to reshape the state's image domestically and abroad. The showcase examines pre-Columbian ceramic forms as one example of state authority transforming Indigenous cultures into symbols of national pride, inviting reflection on identity, tradition, and state power.

Exhibit will be on display in the Luce Hall Common Room (34 Hillhouse Ave, 2nd floor) from April 15-17. Opening reception on Wednesday, April 15 at 4:00 PM.
