Jamal J. Elias is the Walter H. Annenberg Professor of the Humanities and the former director of the Wolf Humanities Center at the University of Pennsylvania. A scholar of Islamic thought, literature and visual culture in western and southern Asia, he is the author of eight books, the editor, coeditor or coauthor of several more, and the author of numerous articles.
