Raghukul Ratan Pandey

Dr. Raghukul Ratan Pandey is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Yale School of Public Health and a public health profession with over 30 years of experience in infectious disease epidemiology, disease surveillance and implementation research in India.

His work spans the design, implementation and evaluation of public health programmes, with critical roles in tuberculosis control, influenza surveillance, outbreak investigations and the prevention and control of Japanese Encephalitis and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome in Uttar Pradesh. He has also contributed to strengthening disease surveillance systems and public health capacity through training and mentorship.

Dr. Pandey currently leads the implementation of the SEWARTH Health and Demographic Surveillance System (HDSS), a longitudinal population-based research platform in Uttar Pradesh established through collaboration among AIIMS Gorakhpur, the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the Yale School of Public Health. The platform supports research on infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health and health systems.

At Yale, his research focuses on the epidemiology of Group A Streptococcus (Strep A), community-based infectious disease surveillance, and implementation science. His broader interests include strengthening surveillance systems, translating research into public health policy, and building sustainable research partnerships to improve population health.
