Sunil Amrith Awarded 2025 Dayton Literary Peace Prize for Nonfiction
Amrith's book, The Burning Earth, continues to garner accolades
Sunil Amrith, Henry R. Luce Director of the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies, has been awarded the 2025 Dayton Literary Peace Prize for Nonfiction for his book The Burning Earth. Salman Rushdie, Kaveh Akbar, Priscilla Morris, and Lauren Markham were among others honored.
Since its publication in 2024, the book has received widespread acclaim, including the 2025 Toynbee Prize, a longlisting for the 2025 PEN/E.O. Wilson Literary Science Writing Award, and a nomination for the 2025 British Academy Book Prize. It was also named one of The New Yorker’s Best Books of 2024 and featured on NPR’s "Books We Love" list for 2024.
