Ayelen Pagnanelli

A Doctoral Fellow at the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) at the Center for Research in Art and Heritage (CIAP), Pagnanelli is doing her doctorate at IDAES, UNSAM. Her dissertation delves into issues of gender and sexuality in the Argentine abstract art scenes of the mid-20th century, under the guidance of María Amalía García. Pagnanelli holds an M.A. in History of Argentine and Latin American Art from IDAES-UNSAM (2019) and has a B.A. in Gender Studies and Studio Art from Skidmore College, USA (2014). Since 2020, she co-coordinates CIAP's Study Group on Art and Gender with Georgina Gluzman and Lucía Laumann and is part of the Tang Contemporaries Advisory Board at the Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum in Saratoga Springs. She has been awarded a research grant from Princeton University Libraries (2020-2021). Pagnanelli has worked as a curatorial assistant in museums and art spaces and as an administrator in consultancy firms for auction houses and art collectors. She has published articles in academic journals and presented papers in Argentina, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States
