For more than 70 years, the MacMillan Center has served as a vital and enduring academic anchor for Yale University’s international teaching, research, and service. Reporting to the Office of the Provost, the MacMillan Center is a resource for all members of the Yale academic community. Our teaching, research, and programming are steered by our faculty-led regional councils and global programs.

  • Councils: Focused on Africa, East Asia, Europe, Latin America and Iberia, the Middle East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia, MacMillan’s regional councils are permanent features of the Center that foster synergy between faculty from various disciplines throughout Yale.

  • Global Programs: Our Global Programs enable Yale faculty members to lead interdisciplinary explorations of transnational issues of global significance. Currently numbered at 19, these programs are guided by the vision of our faculty members.

Our approach is grounded in collaboration on campus and in the world. Students enrolled in our three M.A. programs, five undergraduate degrees, and eleven certificate programs emerge culturally prepared for leadership in diplomacy, fine arts, public health, journalism, policy, academia, and more. Our faculty and scholars enjoy programmatic and financial support for innovative and impactful work. We maintain active and productive partnerships around the globe.
