Meric Gulcu

Meric Gulcu is the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant in Turkish from August 2015 to May 2016. She majored in English Linguistics at Hacettepe University and graduated as an honor degree student in 2006. She also earned her language teaching certificate from the same university during her undergraduate years. She did her M.A. in English Language Teaching at Middle East Technical University under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Joshua Bear (2010). Her areas of interest are culture and language learning, brain based learning and materials development. Throughout her academic career, she enrolled in different certificate programs in ELT.

She has been working as an English language instructor at the Department of Modern Languages at Middle East Technical University for the past nine years. She has been teaching academic reading, writing, speaking and listening skills as well as presentation skills to college students. She also worked as a member of syllabus design and materials development units in her department.  She will be assisting Etem Erol at the Council on Middle East Studies at Yale.
