Hadas Fischer-Rosenberg

Hadas Fischer is a PhD. Candidate at the Yavetz School of Historical Studies at Tel Aviv University, and a 2015-2016 Fox International Fellow at Yale University. She earned her Bachelor and Master degrees as a student of the Lautman Interdisciplinary Program for Outstanding Students at Tel Aviv University, focusing on modern history and gender studies. Her Master’s thesis, on the cultural history of the male suit in British-ruled Palestine, led her research interests to the juxtaposition of colonialism, Empire and daily life in the Mandate period of Israel/Palestine. Her doctoral dissertation explores WWII Palestine as a colonial home front, examining the myriad and contradictory ways in which ordinary people experienced, conceptualized and challenged their relationship with the colonial state in a time of total war. During her time in Yale she intends to explore theoretical, historical and practical aspects of the concept of everyday resistance.
