I teach at Booker T Washington Academy in New Haven, CT. I teach the core subjects (Reading, Writing, and Math). I also facilitate small groups and intervention groups. I am interested in developing curriculum/lesson plans that focus on Figurative language--specifically AAVE (African American Vernacular English). I want to develop how AAVE is used in Black culture– noting that these idioms mean something different than the literal meaning.
