Dr. Sonia Mitchell

Dr. Sonia Mitchell is a national education leader, AI strategist, and curriculum designer with over 20 years of experience bridging technology, equity, and justice in K–16 classrooms. Selected from 350 national candidates as a Standards Writer with the CSTA PreK–12 — cited in The New York Times — Dr. Mitchell brings a rare lens that connects the history of systemic inequity with the future of digital learning.
A Mark Cuban Foundation AI Teacher Bootcamp Fellow, former Massachusetts DESE AI Task Force Member, and graduate AI Leadership Catalyst through Latinos for Education & Black Teachers Center, Dr. Mitchell has dedicated her career to ensuring that underrepresented students and communities are not left behind in the technology revolution. She is the founder of Learning Minds Consulting and a Code.org PD Coach, trainer, and advocate for CS education access across Connecticut, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and beyond.
Dr. Mitchell holds a Doctorate, MBA, Graduate Teaching Certificate, BS in Marketing/Psychology and advanced training from Carnegie Mellon, Harvard, and MIT along with completing a study abroad in Malaysia and Singapore. She is honored to join the 2026 Yale University & Slavery Teachers Institute cohort.
