Jasselene Paz
Jasselene (she/ella) is a junior in Silliman College, an Ethnicity, Race, & Migration major, and a Human Rights scholar. She was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia and is a proud Salvadoreña. Jasselene is the founder and president of Central
Americans for Empowerment (CAFÉ) at Yale; a dancer in Sabrosura and Rhythmic Blue; and a radio host with WYBCx Yale Radio. Her interest in Latin American studies stems from the Salvadoran Civil War and the consequent forced displacement of her family. She is compelled by the traditions, art, and culture that people create while reckoning with structural and imperial violence, and is motivated by what they could create if they were liberated from oppressive structures.
