Constance Frohly

Constance Frohly is a PhD student in Economics at Sciences Po Paris. She holds a double master's degree in Quantitative Methods from Université Panthéon-Sorbonne and Sciences Po, where her master's thesis was selected as one of the best ' Master's Theses in Economics' in 2022. Her research combines applied and behavioural economics to study the determinants, mechanisms and consequences of school choice. Her first project focuses on the French institutional context to study how school choice affects social segregation and students' academic performance. She finds that opening new private schools increase social segregation significantly relative to new public schools. In addition, the academic performance of students from low socio-economic background remaining in public schools decreases significantly with lower peer effects. Her second project investigates households' belief formation about public and private schools and highlights asymmetric beliefs that systematically underestimate public schools. Constance is also deeply committed to teaching. She particularly enjoys introducing mathematical, statistical, and econometric methods to beginners, aiming to equip students in heterogeneous classrooms with rigorous analytical tools and critical thinking skills.
