Evans Abakah
Evans Abakah is a Ph.D. Development Economics candidate in the Economics Department at the University of Ghana. His research interests span the intersection of technology, health, firms, finance, and development. His dissertation examines the impact of digital technologies on health outcomes. Evans aims to use his industry insights with the Ph.D. training to conduct cutting-edge research with profound policy implications, facilitating Ghana's digital agenda for sustainable development. He led the implementation of MTN Ghana's ( the leading telecom company in Ghana) first e-SIM solution as an IT Project consultant. He was recognized for his excellence and awarded the runner-up position for the Project Manager of the Year Award at the 2023 National PMI Excellence Awards. His excellence was also awarded in his studies when he was selected as a young scholar in the globally competitive Private Enterprise Development Initiative in Low-Income Countries (PEDL) at Oxford University in 2023. With a BA and MA in Economics from KNUST, Evans draws from his 14 years of telecom experience to investigate the transformative potential of digital technologies in developing contexts. Evans is passionate about evidence-based policymaking and how digital technologies could be used to build a safe and inclusive society.
