Professor David Brion Davis recently attended a ceremony at the White House in which President Obama awarded him the National Humanities Medal. This, the highest honor bestowed by the National Endowment of the Humanities, comes on the heels of the publication final volume of Davis’ trilogy on slavery, The Problem of Slavery in the Age of Emancipation. Join David Blight, Director of the Gilder Lehrman Center, and Edward Rugemer, Professor of African American Studies and History, for a conversation with Professor Davis about his career and interest in the history of slavery.
