Professor David Brion Davis recently attended a ceremony at the White House in which President Obama awarded him the National Humanities Medal. This, the highest honor bestowed by the National Endowment of the Humanities, comes on the heels of the publication final volume of Davis’ trilogy on slavery, The Problem of Slavery in the Age of Emancipation.
