February 10, 1807

An ingrossed Bill from the Lords, intituled, An Act for the Abolition of the Slave Trade, was read the first time; and ordered to be read a second time.

A Motion was made, and the Question being proposed, That the Bill be read a second time upon this day sevennight;

An Amendment was proposed to be made to the Question, by leaving out the word “sevennight,” and adding the words “fortnight, the 24th day of this instant February,” instead thereof.

And the said proposed Amendment and Motion were severally, with leave of the House, withdrawn.

Ordered, That the Bill be read a second time upon Friday sevennight, the 20th day of this _____ February.

Ordered, That the Bill be printed.

March 1, 1807

Ordered, That the Order of the day, for the third reading of the ingrossed Bill from the Lords, intituled, An Act for the Abolition of the Slave Trade, be now read: And the same being read; the Bill was read the third time.

Resolved, That the Bill, with the Amendments, do pass.

Ordered, That Mr. Wilberforce do carry the Bill to the Lords; and acquaint them, that this House hath agreed to the same, with some Amendments; to which Amendments this House doth desire the concurrence of their Lordships.
