Lanisa S. Kitchiner, Ph.D., is a senior executive, curator, and scholar with over 25 years of experience in managing the material culture of Africa and the African Diaspora. She is Chief of the African and Middle Eastern Division of the Library of Congress and Consulting Curator of African Art at the Toledo Museum of Art. She previously served as Director of Education and Scholarly Initiatives at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African Art, on the faculties of Howard University and American University, as well as on the executive boards of the Association of American Colleges and Universities and the Modern Language Association.
