Berkay Mandiraci
Fox International Fellow

Berkay Mandıracı is a PhD candidate in Political Science and International Relations at Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey. Berkay's research examines how the global diffusion of power affects non-Western middle powers’ conflict mediation efforts and, in turn, reshapes the core tenets of conflict resolution. His research is timely and policy relevant as growing multipolarity and declining U.S. hegemony appear to have enabled non-Western middle powers – such as Turkey, Brazil, and Qatar – to assert themselves in global affairs. Third-party conflict mediation has become a key tool in their arsenals, helping these states navigate tectonic shifts in the international order.
Berkay has more than 10 years of conflict research experience, currently as Senior Analyst at the International Crisis Group (ICG), a global conflict prevention organization. He leads research and advocacy on Turkey’s domestic and foreign affairs. Through his professional and academic work, he bridges scholarly research with high-level policy advocacy.
