Dr. George Syrimis, committee president, is a lecturer in Comparative Literature and Associate Chair of the Hellenic Studies Program at Yale University. He holds degrees from Cornell University (B.Sc. in Education) and Harvard University (MA and Ph.D. in Comparative Literature). His specialty is Modern Greek literature. He has taught children’s literature with an emphasis on the Greek and German fairy tale traditions at the Children Literature Program at Simmons College in Boston.

Dr. Eva Konstantellouis associate professor of Education at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Athens, Greece, and Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Educational Policy and Leadership from The Ohio State University.  For the past seven years she has been preparing teachers to deliver an early literacy intervention to first grade students who find reading and writing difficult.  She believes that children develop their reading and writing skills by having opportunities to read and listen to literary texts that fuel their imagination and creativity.

Dr. Louisa Veletza is a practicing psychologist in Boston with an emphasis on the treatment of childhood trauma. She received a Bachelors Degree in Greek and English Literature from the University of Athens, a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Harvard University and a Doctoral Degree in Counseling Psychology from Boston University. She has taught courses in Greek language and literature at Harvard Extension School for nine years. She has frequently been invited to testify in court as a child psychologist specialist.

Dr. Patricia Barbeito is a Professor of English literature at the Rhode Island School of Design. She was educated in Brandeis University (B.A. in Comparative Literature) and at Harvard university (M.A. and  Ph.D. in Comparative Literature with emphasis on English, Modern Greek and French). She has studied and taught courses on the Greek folk tale.

Dr. Gail Holst-Warhaft is adjunct associate professor in the departments of Classic sand Comparative Literature at Cornell University. She studied English Literature and Fine arts at Melbourne University (B.A.) and Comparative Literature with emphasis on Modern and Ancient Greek at Cornell University (Ph.D.). She has written extensively on Greek music and literature, and in particular on the children’s books of Alki Zei and the children songs of Mariza Koch.
