Modernizing: Political, Social, and Cultural Change in Greece after 1974

The lecture will be followed by film screening of “Cool” (2007) directed by Nicos Perakis The film observes the parallel, frequently intertwining stories and common fates of some very different young people during 24 hours in summer from a prison release through the concrete landscapes of Athens to the grazing lands of Mount Psiloritis in Crete. What the heroes have in common are a variety of problems inherited from their corrupt parents.
