Announcing the Launch of "Greece in Numbers"

Yale’s Hellenic Studies Program is pleased to announce the launch of Greece in Numbers, a new hub for publicly available data on Greece’s economy and society. The hub collects up-to-date data from multiple sources – such as the Hellenic Statistical Authority, the Bank of Greece, ministries and public institutions – and organizes the data into a coherent structure in to facilitate access to data that informs public debate, policymaking, and research in Greece. The data is presented through graphs that are accompanied by concise explanations to ensure clarity and accessibility for all users. Accessing and downloading the data and graphs is free of charge. 

 

Greece in Numbers is a collaborative project of the Institute for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE) in Athens, Greece, with support from Yale’s Hellenic Studies Program and the Hellenic Observatory of the London School of Economics. It is led and directed by Professor Manolis Galenianos, Professor of Economics (Royal Holloway, University of London) and governed by a steering committee that also includes Costas Arkolakis (director of Hellenic Studies Program, Yale),  Nikos Vettas (director of IOBE), Vassilis Monastiriotis (director of Hellenic Observatory, London School of Economics), Christos Genakos (Professor, Cambridge University), and Dimitris Vayanos (Professor, London School of Economics). 

 

Greece is Numbers receives guidance from an Advisory Group composed by: Dimitris Christelis (Prof of Economics, University of Glasgow), Fotini Christia (Professor of Political Science, MIT), Petros Dellaportas (Professor of Statistics, University College London and Athens University of Economics and Business), Nikos Demiris (Asst. Professor of Statistics, Athens University of Economics and Business), Vasiliki Fouka (Professor of Political Science, Stanford University), Vasiliki Georgiadou (Professor of Political Science, Panteion University and Director of the National Center of Social Sciences - EKKE), George Hondrogiannis (Director, Economic  Research Department, Bank of Greece), Myrto Kalouptsidi (Professor of Economics, Harvard University), Kostas Kostis (Professor of Economic History and Director of NBG Cultural Foundation), Daphne Nicolitsas (Asst. Professor, University of Crete), Elias Papaioannou (Professor of Economics, London Business School), and Diomidis Spinellis (Professor of Information Systems, Athens University of Economics and Business).
