Sophia Kitlinski

Sophia Kitlinski is a PhD candidate in the History of Art Department. Her research examines the visual, material, and expressive cultures of Africans and Afro-descendants in the Ibero-Atlantic world in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Her dissertation focuses on Afro-Cuban ritual drawing practices in Cuba during the period. Before coming to Yale, Sophia earned degrees from Columbia University and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
