Since the outbreak of civil war in 2011, over 650,000 Syrian refugees have been registered in Jordan. Approximately 20% live in camps with the remainder living alongside Jordanians in host communities. But, what are the main challenges refugees experience on a daily basis? Which humanitarian responses have been implemented to cope with this influx? How have the governments of the United States and Canada supported such efforts? And, importantly, where are these interventions falling short? This panel discussion will address these questions, drawing on the experiences of two senior North American diplomats both of whom have significant experience in shaping and delivering humanitarian policy in Jordan.
