Charlotte Kiechel
Charlotte Kiechel is a PhD student in the History Department at Yale. Her research interests include: Holocaust and Genocide Studies, comparative colonialism, and modern European intellectual and cultural history. Her dissertation tells the history of the first generation of genocide scholars from 1945 to 1968, and how its members defined Jewish and “Third World” suffering. Before starting at Yale, Charlotte held positions at U.S. Thailand Fulbright Fellowship, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the American Folk Art Museum, and Solera Capital. She believes that these experiences have been integral to providing a real-world lens to her historical research. While pursuing her academic interests in Holocaust and Genocide Studies, Charlotte has sought to build communities across the Yale campus. She has held leadership positions at the Office of Career Strategy, Davenport College, and for the History Department’s Global History Workshop. She has language training in French, German, Chinese, and Thai. Charlotte received her B.A from Williams College in 2012, where she majored in History and Asian Studies with a minor in French, and where she graduated magna cum laude, highest honors (Phi Beta Kappa).
