Project Title: Between European Common Values and National Constitutional Identities: Reassessing the Modalities of European Constitutional Argument

Marcin Baranski is an LL.M. Candidate at Yale Law School (2019) and a Ph.D. Candidate at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, Italy (2014-2019). He holds a Master of Comparative, International and European Law from the EUI (2015), a Master of Law from the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Warsaw, Poland (2014) and a Bachelor and Master of Liberal Arts from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, University of Warsaw, Poland (2011 and 2013 respectively). Marcin’s research interests are in general jurisprudence, comparative constitutional law and theory, political philosophy, European Union law and transnational legal orders. His Ph.D. thesis aims to provide a critical account of the concept of constitutional pluralism and its manifestations in EU law scholarship. Apart from pursuing his Ph.D. degree, Marcin was a member of the Legal and Political Theory (co-chair in 2017-2018) and Constitutionalism and Politics Working Groups at the EUI Law Department. He is also a member of the European Journal of Legal Studies, a researcher-led, peer-reviewed academic journal founded and based at the EUI in Florence, serving first as Junior Editor (2016-17), then Head of the Legal Theory Section (2017-18) and Senior Editor currently.
