Reuben Tete Larbi
Reuben is a Population Scientist with an interest in the effects of environmental conditions on human health. His research focus is the social and environmental determinants of health and wellbeing, particularly in low-income urban settings. Reuben is passionate about addressing the unjust deprivations and socio-economic conditions under which people live, grow and work, and the consequent inequalities in health and wellbeing. He has worked on various projects in the areas of circular economy of water and sanitation, exposure of the urban population to environmental hazards such as floods, adaptation to climate change, approaches for computing carbon emissions particularly during war time, and the wider determinants of health and inequalities. The geographic focus of Reuben’s research has been, Ghana, UK, Iraq, Tanzania and Bangladesh. His research approach involves multidisciplinary methods that combine qualitative and quantitative techniques with spatial analyses. Reuben is currently Research Fellow at the Division of Health Research, Lancaster University UK, where he works with a local authority to enhance the use of evidence in decision-making to address health inequalities. Prior to that he was Post-Doctoral Research Associate at Lancaster University’s Environment Centre.
