Homeira Qaderi and Mujib Mehrdad: A Conversation on Afghan Literature Today
This year, the Iranian Studies Program at the Yale MacMillan Center is hosting the major Afghan novelist and memoirist Homeira Qaderi as our Writer in Residence. Over the course of this year, Qaderi is conducting several conversations with other Persian-language writers about their craft. These will be online webinars conducted in Persian, and we invite Persian-speakers from all over the world to tune in.
The third event in this series, on Tuesday Mar. 26 from 12-1:30pm Eastern US time, will be a conversation between Qaderi and Mujib Mehrdad, a prize-winning Afghan poet, playwright, translator, and journalist, who has edited a major newspaper, taught at universities, and represented Afghanistan to the International Pen Association. Qaderi and Mehrdad will discuss the situation for Afghan literature today, and Mehrdad will read several of his poems. The event will be moderated by Bezhan Pazhohan, a Fellow at the Yale Council on Middle East Studies.
