The Program in Iranian Studies strives to reflect diverse views and encourages study of Iran and Afghanistan within the broader context of the Middle East, and especially in relation to neighboring regions across the Persian Gulf, as well Central Asia and South Asia. Affiliated faculty and visiting scholars pursue a range of methods and fields of studies. The Program runs a yearly colloquium and sponsors frequent workshops and lectures.
