Brent Eng is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Anthropology at the University of California, Davis. He received his PhD from the Department of Anthropology and the Program in Critical Theory at the University of California, Berkeley. He specializes in the study of secularism and religion, migration, and political violence, with a regional focus on the Middle East. His current project, "The Work of Bread in Times of War," is an ethnography of Syrian migrant and refugee bakery workers in Tripoli, Lebanon.
