Kristof Szitar

I am a Visiting Assistant in Research at Yale University and a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Lausanne. My research focuses on medieval literary history in Central and South Asia and the Caucasus, with a particular emphasis on the works of ʿUnṣurī. More broadly, I explore the literary cultures of the Ghaznavid period and the interactions between Islamic and non-Islamic communities through textual sources. My recent and forthcoming publications examine portrayals of heresy and infidelity (kufr), the Persianate representation of Mani, and the history of obscene and pornographic Persian manuscripts. Together with Blain Auer, I am co-editing a trilingual (Arabic, Persian, English) special issue titled An Anthology of Ghaznavid Poetry in Translation. Additionally, I translate both premodern and modern Hindi, Urdu, Persian, and Tajik female poetry.
