Basak Kus
Basak Kus is Assistant Professor of Sociology at Wesleyan University. Prior to joining Wesleyan, she held postdoctoral appointments in political economy at Princeton’s Niehaus Center for Globalization and Governance, and Yale’s MacMillan Center for International Studies. Between 2010 and 2012 she lived in Ireland, and taught public policy and political economy at the University College-Dublin where she was also a Fellow of the Geary Institute for Public Policy. Dr Kus was born and raised in Turkey. She obtained her BA from Bogazici University. Her research examines the social and institutional foundations of market economies from a comparative angle, using both quantitative and qualitative methods of research. To date, she has written about inequality, redistributive politics, welfare reform, financialization, economic crises, market regulations, labor movements, Turkish politics and economy.
