Coordinating Global Communities”

May 9, 2023, New Haven

Background

The aim of Fox Fellowship is to create bonds between nations and foster cooperation and coordination at the global scale through the development of an academic and policy community. Transnational cooperation and coordination pose distinctive challenges because of the scale of global coordination efforts. Distance, borders, cultural heterogeneity, political fragmentation, and rising nationalist movements are but few of the many factors that create a unique macro-context for global problems. Large-scale social processes unfold differently than in smaller, local settings. In these proceedings, we focus on the translation of problems of coordination and cooperation into a global setting to articulate and address the particularity of the challenges faced by the global community. The conference topics may include but are not restricted to:

Colonialism and Empire

Climate Change

Global and Transnational Networks

Discrimination and Inequality

Borders and Migration

Social Media and Political Transformation

Ethno-nationalism and Populism

Global Health and Security

Economic Development, Wealth, and Well-being.

Submission Process:

Prospective presenters will be chosen following the submission of a 300- 500 words abstract on a topic consistent with the overall theme. Successful applicants will provide, for posting online and distribution to discussants, a draft of at least 5 to 10 pages one month prior to the meeting. Travel and lodging assistance will be made available to presenters.

Submissions and questions should be sent to foxreunionglobal23@gmail.com
