Southeast Asia Studies: GETSEA Simulcast Film Screening “Breaking the Cycle”

A documentary film directed by Aekaphong Saransate & Thanakrit Duangmaneeporn.

The film tracks the rise and fall of Thailand’s Freedom Forward Party and the political movement to restrain the Thai military’s power in 2018, before the party was dissolved by the Constitutional Court in 2020. The de facto successor party to the movement was again dissolved by the Constitutional Court earlier this month. The film has been a hit in Thailand and at film festivals since its release in May and offers an amazing insight into the history of military rule in Thailand.
