Kasama at Yale joined the Filipino Ivy League (FIL) Conference

Kasama at Yale joined the Filipino Ivy League (FIL) Conference in November 2024, a two-day event with guest speakers, traditional food, and activities focused on Filipino culture.

We would like to thank the Council of Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) once again for granting Kasama funding for the inaugural Filipino Ivy League (FIL) Conference at Princeton University. We were able to connect meaningfully with fellow Filipinos across Ivy League universities and learn from impactful student-led workshops by Columbia, Cornell, UPenn, Brown, and Harvard. These sessions, along with talks from Filipinx keynote speakers and scholars, inspired us to further our cultural advocacy within academic spaces. We also shared our journey and student advocacy in establishing Tagalog at Yale. Now, we are beyond excited to support Filipinx students at Brown in their endeavors to establish a Filipino (Tagalog) language course at their university.

We’re looking forward to seeing what the conference might bring next year and to continuing this important work in solidarity. Thank you once more for making this experience possible!

We also hope to keep in touch as the Council is in the process of reviewing potential hires for Tagalog at Yale.

Warmly,
Kasama
