Alicia Girón

Dr. Alicia Girón has been the Coordinator of the University Program of Studies on Asia and Africa (PUEAA), UNAM since 2017. Coordinator of the University Seminar on Asian Studies (2014-2017). Researcher at the Institute for Economic Research (IIEc) with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics and a Master's Degree and a PhD in Latin American Studies from the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences. Her main research lines are financial economics, economic cycles, financial crises, sovereign debts and financial systems. Dr. Girón has dabbled in the economics of gender and its relationship with financial circuits at the macroeconomic and microeconomic levels. Director of IIEc 1994-2002. Member of the National System of Researchers level III and National University Award in the Research Area in Economic-Administrative Sciences (2010). President of the International Association for Feminist Economics (IAFFE-2015-2016). Member of the United Nations High-Level Panel on Women's Economic Empowerment (2016-2017).
