Dra. Vera comes from Antofagasta, a city in the Atacama Desert, in northern Chile. She obtained a Ph.D. in Mathematical Science from the University of Chile in 2013, and then did a post-doctorate in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Durham University UK during 2015 and 2016.
She is currently an assistant professor at Universidad of Valparaíso, where she conducts undergraduate and graduate courses for mathematics students. In addition, she is part of the interdisciplinary research group “Anillo Matemáticas y Género”. The main objective of this project is to know, understand and analyze the scientific field of women in mathematics in Chile, from a gender perspective, articulating the research method in social sciences with the knowledge of mathematical language.
