Erica Durante

Erica Durante is a visiting Associate Professor of Latin American and Caribbean Studies at Brown University. She has held a tenured Associate Professor position in Comparative Literature at the University of Louvain (Belgium). She is currently serving as the Director of Undergraduate Studies of the Latin American and Caribbean Studies concentration at Brown University.

Her research has centered on Latin American culture, literature and globalization and cultural studies. Her most recent book Air Travel Fiction and Film: Cloud People (Palgrave Macmillan: 2020) explores the cultural imaginary of air travel in contemporary fiction and film, with a major emphasis on Latin American writers and filmmakers. Her current research project examines discourses, narratives and cultural productions related to the representation of hunger and obesity in Latin America, Hispanic Caribbean and LatinX communities.
