Josefina Cobián
Josefina Cobian is a Master of Environmental Management (MEM) candidate at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. She was born and raised in Mexico. She holds an environmental engineering degree and has 5 years of working experience. Prior to F&ES, Josefina worked in the government sector for the National Forestry Commission of Mexico where she managed projects implemented with international funding for the reduction of emission from deforestation and forest degradation.
At F&ES Josefina is focusing on Climate Change mitigation specifically in forest policy and climate change adaptation and resilience building in developing countries. Last summer, she interned at the Environmental Defense Fund in Washington, D.C. where she collaborated with the forest team under the climate change initiative doing research on tropical deforestation and participating in projects related to Climate change. As a result of this internship, Josefina was co-author in a paper published in the journal Forests. Additionally, she collaborated with EcoCiencia in Quito, Ecuador, where she supported strategic efforts to stop deforestation and forest degradation while empowering and recognizing Indigenous Communities important role in the conservation of the Amazon
