Mariel Sáez

Dr. Sáez was born in Valdivia, Chile. In 2000 she obtained her degree on mathematical engineering from Universidad de Chile. In 2005, she received her Ph.D. in mathematics from Stanford University and later she held a postdoctoral position at the Max Planck Institute in Germany. Since 2008 she has been working at the mathematics department of la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where she currently holds an associate professor position. Her research in mathematics is in geometric analysis. Since 2019 she is part of the interdisciplinary project “Mathematics and Gender”. That study has the goal of learning, understanding and analyzing the scientific field of female mathematicians in Chile from a gender perspective, articulating the methods of social sciences with the knowledge of the mathematical language.
