Yasmín Mertehikian

Yasmin Mertehikian is a PhD candidate in Sociology and Demography at the University of Pennsylvania, where she also holds an MA in Sociology and an A.M. in Demography. Before coming to Penn, she did an MA in Social Sciences at Universidad Nacional de General Sarmiento and a BA in Sociology at Universidad de Buenos Aires, both in Argentina. In her dissertation Mertehikian analyzes the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the labor market in Argentina, paying special attention to the differential effect of the pandemic across social and economic groups. Both in Argentina and during her PhD at the University of Pennsylvania, Mertehikian has participated in seminars on sexual and (non) reproductive rights, feminism, and access to the labor market of women and sexual minorities.
